2018 Amity Vineyards Bass Hill Pinot Noir
McMinnville AVA · 100% Pinot Noir · Dry · 750mL
Tasting Notes Black Cherry, Baking Spices, Sandalwood
Bass Hill sits at roughly 600 feet elevation just outside the Van Duzer Corridor in the McMinnville AVA. This eight-acre, south-facing vineyard is planted in ancient marine sediment soils and farmed dry and own-rooted, producing naturally low yields and small berries with powerful tannins, concentration, and a brilliant backbone of acidity. A blend of 115, Pommard, and Wadenswil clones, each contributing their own character to the final wine. Each year we select only our favorite barrels from Bass Hill to produce this vineyard designate, and this 2018 is one of the best.
The 2018 season delivered a generous picking window after a warm summer with cool nights that preserved acidity and complexity. Low rainfall through late September and October allowed us to harvest exactly when the fruit was ready, with sugar, acidity, and pH all in balance.
Pairing and Serving Pairs well with roasted lamb, duck, mushroom dishes, and aged hard cheeses. Serve at 60 to 65 degrees F in a Burgundy-style glass. Drinking beautifully now and can be cellared through 2030.
