2021 Amity Vineyards Estate Pinot Noir
Eola-Amity AVA · 100% Pinot Noir · Dry · 750mL
Tasting Notes Ripe Plum, White Peppercorn, Leather
Grown exclusively from Amity Estate, where vines first planted in 1971 make this one of the oldest Pinot Noir sites in Oregon. High elevation and cooling marine winds funneling through the Coast Range slow the ripening process, producing wines with concentration, bright acidity, and focus.
The 2021 season was one of contrasts. Early warmth in April pushed bud break one to two weeks ahead of schedule, followed by temperature swings through spring and a late rain event around bloom that contributed to below-average yields. The season's defining moment came in late June when a historic heat dome brought three consecutive days of record-breaking temperatures across the Pacific Northwest. For established vineyards the timing ultimately proved manageable, and as harvest approached through August to October, temperatures cooled to ideal conditions, allowing the moderate crop to develop complex fresh fruit with retained acidity and focus.
Pairing and Serving Pairs well with roasted lamb, duck, mushroom dishes, and aged hard cheeses. Serve at 60 to 65 degrees F in a Burgundy-style glass. Drinking well now and can be cellared through 2033.
